Warrior Pvp Guide (5.3)

Welcome, this is a beginner's guide for people starting out in pvp or
recently came back from a hiatus and need a refresher on stat priority. Updated for 5.3.

Mindset and General Arena Tips

As a warrior, your job is to tunnel damage as much as possible while at the same time keeping track of cc and preventing it from lading on your healer. Use charge to prevent sheeps and fears form landing on your healer. Always eat hunter traps with intervene/safeguard and always spell reflect cc.

For the most part you want to fear on cooldown but watch out for fear ward, have your partner's dispel it if possible. And remember shockwave can be used to cc healers too!

Talents

Level 15
Juggernaut is the default talent but can be swapped occasionally for warbringer

Or
Warbringer is not amazing on its own but it can work wonders if glyphed along side blitz. I would mostly recommend this talent against cleaves mostly but it really depends on your playstyle.

Level 30
Second Wind is a must have. Great passive heal that makes warrior's untrainable.

Level 45
Disrupting Shout has been become more and more common lately since caster's are still a warrior's worst nightmare. Piercing howl and maybe staggering shout for some are still great in terms of playstyle choice, but the big winner seems to be disrupting shout.

Level 60

Shockwave has survived the nerfs! Personally, I would love to see the day when warrior's can bladestorm and shockwave at the same time! But in the meantime shockwave still the best for survival and utility.

Level 75
Mass Spell Reflection has been a great addition to the warrior arsenal. It's great against casters, specially against teams with druid healers. They always open with a cyclone, as a warrior it's your job to make sure your healer is never cc'ed in the open.

Or

Safeguard is a great for getting out of roots and keeping teammates alive. While mass spell reflection is generally better for arena, safeguard out performs it in battlegrounds. While it can be a playstyle choice, there are some game where you wont need safeguard and some games when you wont use mass spell reflection.

Level 90

Avatar is great for landing kills since recklessness always gets disarmed or peeled. I would recommend splitting your bursts into segments of two, making it harder to predict when you are actually going for the kill. Some people take bloodbath and macro it to bladestorm for crazy aoe damage but you will never see it in arena.

Rotation
Hamstring>Colossus smash>Mortal strike>Overpower>Slam>Heroic Strike

Note: use heroic strike only is using slam gets in the way of your rotation

Glyphs
Only glyph of death form above is necessary, the rest is to you.

Prime Glyphs
Glyph of Death From Above: Makes heroic leap into a 30 second cooldown. Usually a must have.
Glyph of Blitz: This a fun glyph to play around with, maybe take warbringer for multiple stuns.
Glyph of Enraged Speed: Increases speed while enraged. Not optimal but then again most glyphs aren't.
Glyph of Hindering Strikes: Great if you use heroic strike, but most people use slam for more damage.
Glyph of Mortal Strike: Great glyph except that warriors don't take much damage to begin with.
Glyph of Colossus Smash: Great slight damage increase.

Minor Glyphs
Pick your favorites! They are mostly aesthetic!

Stats
Resilience is still great but maybe not for gemming, the 200 resil on chest and Tyrannical primal diamond is still viable though. Use the follow priority when gearing.

Arms Stat Priority
3%Hit=3%Expertise>Strength>Pvp Power>Crit>Mastery>Haste>More Expertise>More Hit
Cloak -  Enchant Cloak - Accuracy or Superior Critical Strike
Belt Living Steel Belt Buckle
Legs - Angerhide Leg Armor
Boots - Enchant Boots - Pandaren's Step
Weapon - Enchant Weapon - Glorious Tyranny or Enchant Weapon - Dancing Steel

Professions
Professions don't really matter in patch 5.3. I would stay away from gathering professions but anything else is great.

Viable Warrior Comps
Warrior + Hunter + Healer (Rdruid)
Warrior + Shadow Priest + Healer (Rsham)

Cancels bop and executes and it puts on "arms" set. You need to open "character info" by pressing c. got to equipment manager and click on "+ new set," and name it "arms" It must be spelled the same way it is written in the macro.

I use this macro to get back into a 2-handed weapon since my arms set is saved with a 2-handed weapon.

/canselaura Hand of Protection
/equipset arms
/cast execute

To use shield wall. Change the name to your 1-handed and shield.
